SmartShield™

SmartShield allows you to automatically print a custom transparent security image - a logo, symbol or text - directly onto your cards. Once printed, this image appears only when the card is viewed under ultraviolet (black) lighting or when viewed at an angle under normal lighting. This image enhances the uniqueness of every card you produce and may help you detect counterfeited cards.

With SmartShield, you can use existing logos or create new one of a kind images using any standard graphics program. Then you simply save it to your proprietary SmartGuard access card. Once saved, the image will be automatically printed onto every card you produce. SmartShield images can be changed and resaved onto your access card as often as necessary, but only by those who know your password (see SmartGuard™ Printer Security).



SmartGuard™ Printer Security

The SmartGuard option allows you to restrict access to your printer/encoder by requiring that a custom access card be inserted into the Security Card Slot in order for the printer to operate. This custom access card is created by using the SmartGuard software to encode a password of your choice onto one of FARGO's unique SmartGuard Access Cards. You can set up these cards to work on one specific printer or on multiple printers at a single location.

SmartGuard makes your entire ID card system more secure by ensuring accountability for every card produced. When you register your printer/encoder with FARGO, you are added to our database and assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN) of your choice. Registering protects you if your card is stolen, as FARGO will give a remote access code only to you - the registered user.
